Crossville Laminam Tile Panel Tile Installation Red Rose Credit Union
JD Tile recently teamed up with All Set Tile to install Laminam, Crossville’s offering for thin tile porcelain. This was installed on the walls of a credit union. Elegance and the durability of porcelain but only adding an additional 1/8″ to the sheetrock. This particular tile is the new animal in the tile industry presenting new challenges to the tile mechanic. In recent years large format tile keeps coming out, 18″ and 12X24″ are now considered the norm. The thin tile is over 3 ft by approx 10 ft. in length. Many new challenges come about, how to cut it, transport it, install it, thinset it, etc. JD Tile attended the Crossville Tile training down in Tennessee at the plant back in August to get qualified on their product, Laminam. This project included 19 panels in total installed on the walls with many cutouts for outlets. The installation we a major success and we look forward to new products with this thin tile 1/8″ thick in this case. This material in a thicker material can also be used for floors but the substrate it required to be much more flat for a successful installation.
